Intention and Haiku
For this project, I wanted to make a small booklet that describes the following haiku across 3 spreads for each line in the poem.
In twilight rain
These brilliant hued-hibiscus
A lovely sunset
-Matsuo basho
Typography Studies
I chose Charter for its slab serif qualities, which gives it a rooted base no matter how I rotate it. I also think that it is easy to read despite the angle change on most of the pages.
Pages
The final page designs each try to show a different part of the haiku while maintaining an overall theme.
I used rectangular shapes on every page to each other to show unity among every separate piece in the project.
